Celebrating the rising of the Puanga Star (Rigel) that marks the Māori New Year. This commenced with the school gathering together as one/kotahitanga around our fire pit to say karakia, light the fire and sing waiata. On return to class, students were able to take the time to give reflection/whakaaroaro, rememberance/whakamahara and gratitude/whakawhetai for all we have and have had in our world through a range of activities, with their peers, teachers and whānau. There was a shared brunch provided including, bacon, eggs, hash browns, and pancakes that all enjoyed, a beautiful pumpkin soup made by Mrs.Purdie, and boil-up and rēwena bread on the go made by senior students in Mahi Ngahere.
A big thank you to all who were involved from staff right through to those who came and celebrated with us, and thank you to Parihaka Māra Kai who donated produce. All this support is what makes our kura the coolest little kura on the coast!
